Project Result 1 of GECONEU project includes the development of the ‘Best Genetic Counseling Protocol” and it will be based on the PICOGEN program - a Genetic Counseling intervention for familial dementia. This is a pioneer program in Spain, where more than 100 families with familial Alzheimer’s disease, familial frontotemporal lobar degeneration and genetically determined prion diseases and their families at risk have taken part since 2003. The program follows a specific protocol and includes GC and genetic testing of both symptomatic and at-risk asymptomatic family members. You can download this pdf for more information.(pdf)

REVEAL (Risk Evaluation and Education for Alzheimer's Disease) was the 1st and largest study in the world on the disclosure of genetic testing results from 1999 until 2020. Through a series of multi-site RCT, REVEAL provided empirical data to address ethical, social and translational concerns about genetic susceptibility testing for common diseases including more than 1.300 participants in 4 separate trials (REVEAL I, II, II, IV). It continues through a new study called REVEAL-SCAN (the Study of Communicating Amyloid Neuroimaging). More than 60 scientific publications have been published https://www.genomes2people.org/publications/?_projects=677
